No Other Gospel Devotion 2: Guarding Against False Teachings
Scripture: Galatians 1:8 (ESV)
“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.”
Reflection:
Paul’s strong words in Galatians 1:8 underscore the seriousness of preaching a false gospel. The sermon highlights how the Judaizers distorted the truth by adding legalistic requirements, confusing the Galatians. False teachings can be deceptive, often sounding close to the truth but leading us away from Christ’s grace. Today, we must be vigilant, testing every message against Scripture. Paul reminds us that nothing, human or angelic, should lead us from the truth of God’s grace found in Jesus Christ alone.
Application:
Read Ephesians 2:8-9 again and then read Galatians 1:8. And commit to always asking this question when you hear someone preaching or teaching, “Does this align with the gospel?”
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, protect me from false teachings that distort Your gospel. Give me wisdom to test every message against Your Word. Strengthen my faith to stand firm in the truth of Your grace. Use me to lovingly guide others to the true gospel. Amen.
