Devotion 3: The Lamb Who Demands a Decision
Scripture Reading: John 1:35-37 – “The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God!’ The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.” (ESV)
Reflection:
When John the Baptist declared Jesus to be the Lamb of God, it forced a choice. The Pharisees heard of Jesus’ greatness but walked away, indifferent to the One who could save them. In contrast, Andrew and John, the disciples, heard the same message and chose to follow Jesus. This moment captures the heart of the gospel: Jesus, the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, demands a response. Will you ignore Him, like the Pharisees, or follow Him, like the disciples?
Every day, you face this same choice. The Lamb of God has died for your sins, risen from the dead, and now calls you to trust and follow Him. Believe in His name. Follow Jesus. Who are you in this story? Are you standing with the indifferent, or are you following the Lamb?
Application:
Examine your heart today. Have you trusted in the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for sending Jesus, the Lamb of God.
