Devotion #1: Jesus, Our Reigning King

Scripture: Psalm 110:1-3 (ESV)
The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments…

Reflection:
Do you ever look around at the chaos of this world and wonder who’s in charge? Psalm 110 reminds us that Jesus, our great King, is seated at the right hand of the Father, ruling even now in the midst of His enemies. He’s not waiting to become Lord—He already is! Every knee will bow to Him, whether willingly or by force. As believers, we’re not a defeated people cowering in fear. We’re clothed in the holy garments of Christ’s righteousness, called to go forth with the gospel, proclaiming the terms of surrender: repent and believe in the King who died for you. The world may rage, but Jesus reigns, and His kingdom is advancing through us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Application:
Take a moment to reflect on an area of your life where you feel overwhelmed by the world’s chaos. Remember that Jesus is Lord over it all. Write down one way you can proclaim His truth this week—perhaps a conversation with a coworker or an act of service that points to Christ. Trust that He is ruling, even in the mess, and you are part of His victorious kingdom.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, my King, I praise You for Your sovereign rule over all things. Help me to trust in Your power and to boldly share Your gospel. Use me to advance Your kingdom. Amen.
