Devotion 4: Serving One Another in Love

Vbcconway   -

Scripture: Galatians 5:13–14 – “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Reflection:
Our blood-bought freedom in Christ isn’t for selfish indulgence but for selfless service. As we heard in the sermon, Paul warns the Galatians not to misuse their freedom but to use it to love and serve others. When we walk by the Spirit, we’re empowered to put others’ needs above our own, showing the world what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. The freedom that is found in Christ enables us to give ourselves away for the sake of others.

Application:
Look for one opportunity today to serve someone in love—whether it’s helping a neighbor, encouraging a friend, or forgiving someone who’s wronged you. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in showing Christ’s love through your actions.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the freedom I have in Christ. Holy Spirit, lead me to use that freedom to serve others in love. May my life reflect Your love and draw others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
