Devotion 2: The Fruit of a Spirit-Led Life

Vbcconway   -

Scripture: Galatians 5:22–23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Reflection:
The Christian life isn’t about striving to produce good works to please God. It’s about going to war with the flesh and fighting to keep in step with the Spirit. It’s about allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us, producing fruit that reflects Jesus’ character. The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. These are evidence of a life surrendered to God. These qualities come from the Spirit’s transforming presence. When we walk by the Spirit, our lives bear fruit that glorifies God and blesses others.

Application:
Choose one fruit of the Spirit (e.g., patience or kindness) and reflect on how it’s been evident—or lacking—in your life this week. Ask the Holy Spirit to cultivate that fruit in you, and look for one practical way to demonstrate it today, such as showing kindness to a coworker or patience with a family member.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Spirit to produce good fruit in my life. Fill me with Your love, joy, and peace today, and let my actions point others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
