No Other Gospel Devotion 4: The Curse of a False Gospel (Galatians 1:9)

Vbcconway   -

Scripture: Galatians 1:9 (ESV)
“As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”

Reflection:
Paul’s repeated warning in Galatians 1:9, as highlighted in the sermon, shows the eternal consequences of distorting the gospel. A false gospel not only misleads but also cuts people off from the grace of Christ, leaving them under condemnation. This sobering truth calls us to cherish the true gospel and share it accurately. The sermon emphasizes that the gospel’s purity is non-negotiable because it’s the only message that saves. We must guard our hearts and church against teachings that add to or subtract from Christ’s work.

Application:
Examine your beliefs about salvation. Are you trusting in Christ alone, or are you relying on something else (e.g., good works, church attendance)? Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal any false beliefs. Share the true gospel with someone this week, explaining that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the pure gospel that saves. Purify my heart to trust in Christ alone. Give me opportunities to share Your truth with love and clarity. May Your name be glorified. Amen.
