The Messenger and the Message Devotion: To God Alone be the Glory (Galatians 1:5)

Scripture Reading: Galatians 1:5 (ESV)

“To whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”

Reflection:
Paul closed his introduction with a doxology that emphasized that God alone deserves glory for our salvation. As the sermon explains, the Father planned redemption, the Son accomplished it, and the Holy Spirit applies it—all to God’s glory. This truth counters our tendency to seek personal credit or rely on our efforts for salvation. We need to cultivate a lifestyle of praise. Songs like the doxology remind us that everything, especially our salvation, flows from God. In a culture obsessed with self-glory, Paul’s words call us to redirect all honor to God, whose love and power make our redemption possible.

Application:
Write down three blessings in your life, including your salvation, and praise God for them.  Consider incorporating a doxology into your daily routine, such as singing or reciting “Praise God from whom all blessings flow” during prayer or family time. Share with someone how God’s work in your life points to His glory.

Prayer:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all glory belongs to You forever! Thank You for planning, accomplishing, and applying my salvation. Forgive me for seeking my own glory instead of Yours. Help me live a life of praise, giving You honor in all I do. May my words and actions point others to Your greatness and love. Amen.
